The future of Houston's Thanksgiving Day parade could become more clear after a Tuesday morning press conference with Mayor Annise Parker.

"It's an announcement about the parade," spokeswoman Jessica Michan said, declining to say anything more.

Many in the community are hopeful the mayor will unveil a solution to keeping alive the decades-old tradition after longtime organizer, the Houston Festival Foundation, announced last week that it was stepping down due to financial strains and had sold the event's floats.

A brief news release Monday noted Parker would be accompanied at the announcement by representatives from H-E-B, for years the leading corporate sponsor of the event, and Central Houston Civic Improvement, a nonprofit focused on downtown development and health.
