Extremely large crowds at the Galleria for NBA All-Star festivities prompted officials to close the mall early Saturday night.
The Galleria reached its legal capacity around 8:15 p.m. and began clearing out crowds, according to mall officials.
Officers with an HPD special response team were on hand. Police and mall officials blocked entrances to the Galleria Saturday night.
"As always, our primary concern is for the safety and well being for our shoppers and mall employees," Galleria officials said in a statement.
The mall plans to reopen at 11 a.m. Sunday.
