A 35-year-old is accused of holding a machete over his head as he broke into the house of the man dating his ex-girlfriend, court records show.

Timothy Lee Ehrlich is accused of burglary of a habitation with intent to commit aggravated assault after he allegedly broke into a Houston man's house on Nov. 28, according to Harris County court records.

He was arrested Monday.

A man who lives at the 1400 block of Chateau heard a loud noise and his dogs barking on Nov. 28. He then saw a man inside his living room holding a flashlight.

He recognized the man, Ehrlich, as his girlfriend's ex.

Ehrlich then said something about prison or hell and raised the machete over his head, records show.

The man ran for his life and called the authorities. Investigators initially were unable to find him, deputies said.
