A grand jury will consider the fatal shooting of a robbery suspect by an armored car guard outside a southwest Houston movie theater on Saturday.

The guard had come to the aid of a co-worker who was ambushed by a gunman around 3:30 p.m. Saturday, as she returned to the truck after making a pickup at the AMC Studio 30, 2949 Dunvale, Houston police said.

The gunman shot the guard in the hip before the second guard in the truck returned fire, Houston Police Department Sgt. Steven Murdock said.

The guard and suspect exchanged at least a dozen bullets, one of which struck the robber in the chest. The suspect died at a hospital.

Houston police on Monday said a coroner is working to identify the suspect. No money was taken.

Police are searching for a possible second suspect in a getaway vehicle.
