A Cypress driver is in custody after he allegedly crashed into a woman's car while under the influence of multiple prescription drugs, sending her to the hospital with serious injuries for several months.
Matthew Glen Scott, 27, was charged with intoxication assault for the collision at the 11400 block of Spring Cypress on Aug. 20, Harris County court records show. He was booked Monday in the Harris County Jail.
Scott was driving his Acura on Spring Cypress about 8:30 p.m. when he veered from his lane and crashed into a Ford driven by the woman, who had her daughter in the back seat.
Scott and the woman were taken by Life Flight to a hospital, and the woman's daughter was taken to a hospital via ambulance.
A toxicology report showed that Scott had six prescription drugs in his system, including hydrocodone and hydromorphone.
A Harris County deputy checked on the woman on Oct. 20 and found she was still in the hospital. She suffered a broken right leg, foot, hip, pelvis, ribs, wrist and C-7 vertebrae, court records show. She told investigators her legs required reconstructive surgery, her hip had to be replaced and her back was in a brace. Investigators found she had undergone 15 surgeries at that time.
Scott is in custody without bail.
