The search for a missing Houston County brother and sister came to an end Friday afternoon when they were found safe in Fort Worth, authorities confirmed.

The father of Nevaeh Kimora Simpson, 2, and Jordan Malik Simpson, 1, is en route to Tarrant County to pick up his children.

Meanwhile, their maternal grandmother, Bonnie Benton Miller, 43, is now in custody there and facing two counts of kidnapping, Houston County sheriff's officials said.

The siblings were last seen in Kennard about midnight Thursday, according to the Department of Public Safety.

They were located about 3 p.m. Friday, officials said.

Their disappearance prompted an Amber Alert, which has since been canceled, officials said.

Miller, 43, took the children, though their father was awarded temporary custody of them after their mother died in December, said Chief Deputy G.P. Shearer of the Houston County Sheriff's Office. Authorities said Miller has family and friends in the Houston area.

Miller apparently has family in the Fort Worth area, too. It wasn't clear Friday why she allegedly took the children in the first place, sheriff's officials said.

The investigation is continuing.
