A shootout at an apartment complex in north Houston left one man dead and another on the run Monday night.

The shooting happened about 9 p.m. outside the Fall Lake Apartments at 1415 Greens Parkway, according to the Houston Police Department.

Police said the 21-year-old victim was walking from his apartment and saw the other man. The two acknowledged each other and both of them pulled out guns and started shooting.

The victim was wounded and collapsed. Police said witnesses told investigators they saw the other man standing over the victim after the gunfire. The suspect then climbed into a waiting, small, gray-colored car and sped away.

The victim's gun was not found at the scene.

No detailed description of the suspect was available.

Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713 308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713 222-TIPS.
