A strong scent of marijuana led authorities to a home in Montgomery County where they found nearly 200 cannabis plants growing inside several rooms Monday.
The homeowner, 54-year-old Hien Van Tran, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies said investigators received a tip that the house in the 100 block of Fish Creek Thoroughfare was being used as an indoor marijuana farm.
When deputies arrived, they met Tran and smelled a strong odor of cannabis coming from inside the house.
When they went inside, deputies said, they discovered 170 marijuana plants filling several rooms. They also found equipment used to grow the plants. The plants and equipment were seized.
The marijuana was valued at about $750,000.
Deputies said the electrical meter at the house had been bypassed to power the lights used in the growing operation.
