The Y's Women will hear an expert on etiquette and protocol speak on the topic "Saving Civility" at the group's meeting on Monday, Jan. 9, at the Unitarian Church in Westport.

Coffee will be served at 11 a.m. and the speaker program is scheduled at 11:30, the group said.

Sara Hacala, president of Sara Hacala & Associates, will discuss ways to reverse what many believe is a continuing steep decline in civility in American society, the Y's Women said in a news release. Her presentation includes research showing that civility facilitates problem-solving in business, government and personal relationships, according to the release.

Hacala conducts business etiquette and protocol training and lectures at colleges, corporations and other organizations, Y's Women said. A graduate of The Protocol School of Washington, she also works with at-risk high school students to improve their interpersonal skills.

A question-and-answer period will follow her talk.
