The head of the Westport Arts Center will discuss the center's art-therapy program for cancer patients during the Monday, Oct. 13 meeting of the Y's Women at Temple Israel, 10 Coleytown Road.

Coffee will be served at 10:45 a.m., and the presentation by Peter VanHeerdan, the center's executive director, will be at 11:30, the group said.

Van Heerdan will talk about WAC Gives Back, a program started in 2012 at the Smilow Cancer Center at Yale New Haven Hospital.

The goal of the initiative is to use art to affect the the psycho-social, physical, mental and emotional well-being of children and adults being treated for cancer.
