Storylines:

Out of the frying pan and into the fire for the Wreckers. After falling in heartbreaking fashion to Ridgefield last week, Staples is rewarded with Class LL defending state champions and No.1 team in the state Darien.

The Wreckers showed that they have the grit to content with the top teams in the FCIAC last week. But the question is do they have the grit to knock off the top teams in the conference.

Darien has been the juggernaut that just about everyone expected them to be.

The Blue Wave come in riding a 29-game winning streak — with their last loss coming in the 2014 state championship game. Darien has outscored their opponents 180-29.

And they look to continue their dominance as they come to Staples.

Bottom Line: No times to lick any wounds from last week. Staples has to play a perfect game — and catch a few breaks — in order to topple the giants that are Darien.
