Wooster drops opener

TRUMBULL -- Larissa Santos scored 10 points and Elise Hampilos and Ally Yandow added seven apiece, but it wasn't enough as the Wooster girls basketball team fell 45-32 to Christian Heritage in both teams' season opener on Wednesday.

Oliva Levey delivered a game-high 21 points for the winning side.

Holly Wickham had 10 rebounds for the Generals, who will play the Darrow School on Saturday.

CROSS RIVER, N.Y. -- Sean Trainor scored 15 points and went 7-for-8 from the free-throw lin, leading Brewster to a win in its season opener.

Jordan Circocco added 11 points and hit a trey for the Bears, who outscored John Jay 27-14 in the second half.

Andy Iacomini hit four 3-pointers and finished with 20 points to keep John Jay in the game.

Brewster will play at home against Lakeland at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
