The Refinery presented awards at its recent Demo Night, a culmination of the group’s 12-week accelerator program for women-led companies.

Entrepreneurs also gave presentations on their businesses at the event.

PregPrep, which produces natural supplements to aid conception, won the $8,000 Demo Night Grant.

Beacon and Lively, which is developing a wearable technology bracelet to connect users discreetly to their mobile devices, was awarded a grant from the Angel Investor Forum.

And the Bites Company and Kerry Wood Health Foods shared the Audience Favorite Award.

Skyler Fernandes, an investor with Simon Ventures, was the keynote speaker at the event held at the Westport Library.

“It was extremely gratifying and exciting to watch the transformation and amazing growth of these entrepreneurs and companies over the 12 weeks,” Janis Collins and Jennifer Gabler, co-founders of the Refinery, said in a statement. “The incredible turnout confirmed the demand and interest in businesses with diverse leadership teams,”

The Refinery is also accepting applications for the fall 2015 class which will start Sept. 9 at the Westport Library and end Dec. 2.

The program goals include promoting growth of early-stage ventures that will create jobs and are viable investments, as well as serving the market of women-led businesses.
