More than $1,000 worth of merchandise was stolen from the LF Store on Main Street, and two women were later taken into custody in connection with the theft Friday morning.
The store's manager saw a woman, later identified as Sienna Peterson, 23, of Peace Street in Stratford, crouching down in a corner and shoving white shirts into her bag, police said. She was with another woman, Dorothy Freelove, 23, of Trumbull Avenue, Bridgeport. The manager followed them out of the store and stopped them to ask about the merchandise, but they drove away, police said.
Their car was stopped in Parking Harding Plaza and the duo was taken into custody, both charged with fourth-degree larceny. The merchandise totaled $1,194.
They were released after each posted a $1,500 bond and the are scheduled to appear Aug. 22 in Norwalk Superior Court.
