A Bridgeport woman is facing drunk driving and other several other charges following an incident last week.
Racheal Gonzalez, 23, Lenox Ave., was charged June 22 with operating under the influence of drugs/alcohol; reckless driving, not greater than 85 miles per hour; evading responsibility, and interfering with a police officer (non-assaultive).
Police were dispatched to the area of Riverside Avenue near Bridge Street to investigate a motor vehicle accident, according to a police report. The suspect’s vehicle struck two vehicles from behind and then left the scene, police said.
A witness followed the vehicle to Birchwood Lane. A delivery truck had also seen the vehicle leaving the scene, called police and then blocked the vehicle Gonzalez was driving from leaving Birchwood Lane, the report said.
Officers could smell alcohol on Gonzalez’s breath as she spoke, according to the report. She also was combative with officers during the encounter, police said.
Gonzalez failed field sobriety tests and was taken into custody. Her bond was set at $2,000 and she is scheduled to appear July 2 at state Superior Court in Norwalk.
