Ashley Butler, 24, of Bridgeport, was charged by Westport police Tuesday at Bridgeport police headquarters on a warrant related to a larceny incident last November.

Butler was an employee of the Solstice Sunglass Boutique on Main Street and, from last September to October, she made fraudulent returns worth a total of approximately $5,300 and credited her debit card, police said.

The charges were filed after a loss prevention manager begin to investigate when he discovered that an excessive amount of returns were being made in the store, police added.

Butler was charged with third-degree larceny. She was unable to post bond and was taken Wednesday to Norwalk Superior Court for arraignment.
