Maritza Delvalle, 32, of Norwalk, turned herself in at Westport police headquarters Saturday on a warrant related to a July incident, during which a vehicle she was driving struck two mailboxes, causing significant damage to her vehicle, police said.

She was found on Post Road West, with both front and rear passenger-side tires torn from their wheels, police said. At the time of the accident, Delvalle had her 2-year-old daughter in the back seat, and Delvalle appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, police said.

Delvalle was charged with operating under the influence of drugs or alcohol, risk of injury to a child, evading responsibility and failure to drive right. She was released on $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear Aug. 29 in Norwalk Superior Court.
