Margaret Williams, 25, of Mountain Road in Wilton, was charged early Saturday with driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol after police said they saw her driving suspiciously in the parking lot of Balducci's food market on Post Road East.
A police officer pulled behind Williams's car and activated the cruiser's spotlights. An officer shone a flashlight into Williams' face and knocked on the window of her car, but she did not respond, according to the report. She began using her cell phone and appeared to be texting, police said, and did not roll down her window for about two minutes.
The officer detected the odor of alcohol coming from Williams's car, according to the report. She was asked where she was coming from and reportedly said, "Wilton." She was asked where she was heading to and also said, "Wilton," police said.
The officer asked her how much alcohol she had consumed that night and she said "two drinks."
She failed field sobriety tests and later submitted to two blood-alcohol tests. Police said the results of both BAC tests -- 0.221 BAC and 0.222 BAC -- were more than twice the legal limit of 0.08.
Williams was released on $500 bond and is scheduled to appear June 18 in Norwalk Superior Court.
