Woman charged on Westport larceny warrant

Beverley Stewart, 22, of Harral Avenue, Bridgeport, was charged on a Westport police warrant Saturday in connection with an incident last June.

Stewart used a check from a closed bank account to open a new account, police said, and she was able to withdraw money form the new account before the bank discovered the original check was no good.

Stewart, who was picked up by Bridgeport police on the warrant, was charged with fourth-degree larceny and released on a $5,000 bond.

She is scheduled to appear Feb. 8 in Norwalk Superior Court.
