Longshore Club Park's swimming pools will not be open for the Memorial Day holiday weekend as planned.

The pools' opening has been delayed a week from the traditional time and now is set for Saturday, May 31, according to Stuart McCarthy, the town's parks and recreation director.

He said the delay has been caused by "severe winter weather" this past season, but did not elaborate on specific damage that may be the issue.

The Longshore pool complex and Longshore pavilion offer handicap-accessible locker rooms with showers, family bathrooms and a full-service concession stand with outdoor seating and picnic tables. There is an adjacent playground and tennis courts with lights.

Additional information concerning the Longshore pool facilities is available on the town's website: www.westportct.gov.
