A Canal Street resident has been charged with larceny for allegedly stealing personal property of an elderly resident of Canal Park.

Jacqueline Malone, 56, was charged Wednesday with second-degree larceny.

Police said a complaint was filed against Malone claiming she stole the victim's personal property after gaining that person's trust.

The stolen items included two cameras, two watches and a police scanner, according to a police report. The value of the property was not given.

Regardless of the nature or value, if property is obtained by embezzlement or false pretenses or false promise and the victim of such larceny is 60 years old and over, that charge applies, the police report states.

Malone turned herself in at police headquarters Wednesday, and bond was set at $20,000.
