A Hockanum Road resident was arrested on drunken-driving charges after allegedly hitting another car on the Sherwood Island Connector and leaving the scene.

Eileen Woodley, 47, was charged with driving under the influence and evading responsibility in connection with the accident around 11:44 a.m. Saturday.

According to police, the motorist whose vehicle was struck by Woodley got the license plate number of her car and they caught up with Woodley as she was arriving home.

Woodley's eyes were bloodshot and she was "somewhat off balance," police said when they arrived on the scene. Woodley failed field sobriety tests and refused to take the breath tests.

She was given a bond of $1,000 and is scheduled to appear Jan. 25 in Norwalk Superior Court.
