Westport weather: Warm weather now, wet later

Today should be sunny and warm in southwestern Connecticut, according to the National Weather Service.

The daytime temperature should rise to the mid-60s, with a southwest around 6 mph in the morning.

Tonight, however, there is a 40 percent chance of overnight showers, the NWS says. Thunderstorms could even be in the mix in the early-morning hours of tomorrow as the temperature drops to the mid-40s with a southeast wind around 7 mph.

Tomorrow, there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11 a.m., then a slight chance of showers between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Skies will gradually clear as the temperature rises to the low-70s, with a southwest wind 6 to 16 mph, becoming west in the afternoon. Chance of daytime precipitation is 40 percent.

There is an overnight chance of showers, as the temperature dips to a low about 50 degrees. Chance of precipitation is about 20 percent.

On Wednesday, there is a 20 percent chance of showers, and possible thunderstorms, after 1 p.m. under cloudy skies and temperatures that rise to about 70 degrees. Chance of precipitation is 20 percent. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible as the overnight temperature drops to a low of about 50 degrees.

On Thursday, there is a 40 percent chance of showers, with high temperatures in the low-60s under cloudy skies. Chance of daytime precipitation is 40 percent. Showers are also possible Thursday night, with a low temperature in the upper-40s. Odds of overnight precipitation is 50 percent.

The outlook for Friday, according to the weather service, is cloudy, possible showers and temperatures in the 50s.
