Today will be a warm and sunny prelude to a weekend that promises to be a lot less appealing, according to the National Weather Service.

The daytime high temperature today in southwestern Connecticut will rise to about 70 degrees, with a south wind between 3 and 11 mph.

There is a slight chance of light showers overnight as clouds move in and the temperature falls to a low in the mid-50s.

Tomorrow, there is a chance of showers -- perhaps thunderstorms, as well -- in the afternoon. Skies will be cloudy, with a high temperature about 70 degrees. Rain and thunderstorms remain possible tomorrow night, as the temperature falls to the mid-40s, the NWS says.

On Sunday, rain is likely and the temperature will rise to a high of about 60 degrees. Rain is also expected Sunday night, with breezy conditions and a low temperature in the mid-40s.

The outlook for Monday, according to the weather service, is for more rain and temperatures in the mid-50s.
