On this last full day of summer 2012, southwestern Connecticut is expected to enjoy mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the low-70s.

The National Weather Service forecast for today also says there will be a light breeze from the southeast at 6 to 9 mph.

Tonight will be partly cloudy, with a low temperature in the upper-50s and a south wind 3 to 6 mph.

Tomorrow, however, there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m. Otherwise, skies should be mostly sunny, with a high temperature in the upper-70s.

Showers and thunderstorms are likely tomorrow evening, and some could be severe, the NWS warns. Skies will be mostly cloudy with a low temperature about 60 degrees.

On Sunday, there could be more showers early in the morning. The day should clear later, however, as the temperature rises to about 70 degrees. Nighttime will be mostly clear, with the temperature dipping to a low about 50 degrees.

Monday should be sunny, with a high temperature in the upper-60s. Monday night will be mostly clear, with a low temperature about 50 degrees.

The outlook for Tuesday, according to the weather service, is sunny and temperatures about 70 degrees.
