A wet prelude to a nice weekend is on tap today, according to the National Weather Service.

Showers and thunderstorms are likely in store today for southwestern Connecticut, with the daytime odds of precipitation set at 70 percent, the NWS says. Skies will be cloudy and the high temperature will rise to about 80 degrees.

A slightly lesser chance of storms -- 60 percent -- is forecast for tonight, as the temperature dips to a low in the mid-60s.

Tomorrow, should be mostly sunny, with a high temperature in the low-80s. Night skies will be partly cloudy with a low temperature in the low-60s.

Sunday should be mostly sunny, with a high temperature about 80 degrees. Night brings partly cloudy skies as the temperature dips to about 60 degrees.

Monday also is expected to be sunny, with a high temperature in the low-80s. Monday night will be mostly cloudy, with a low in the mid-60s.

The outlook for Tuesday, according to the weather service, is cloudy, chance of showers and temperature about 80 degrees.
