A hot and humid day is on tap today for southwestern Connecticut, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a heat advisory for the region through tonight.

Skies will be mostly sunny, with the daytime high temperature reaching into the low-90s -- but with the high humidity, the heat index could make it feel as though it is hotter than 100 degrees, the NWS warns. The heat advisory is in effect between noon and 9 p.m.

There also is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 3 p.m., according to the weather service.

Tonight should be mostly clear, with a low around 69 degrees.

Tomorrow should be mostly sunny and somewhat cooler, with a high temperature of about 84 degrees. There will be a northwest wind between 8 and 16 mph. Nighttime skies will remain clear and the temperature will dip to around 65.

Thursday should be sunny, with a high near 82.

And Friday also should see bright skies, with a temperatures reaching into the low-80s, the weather service predicts.
