Dense fog is blanketing parts of southwestern Connecticut this morning, as more rain -- and thunderstorms -- remain possible in the wake of yesterday's storms.

The National Weather Service, however, says the morning gloom will gradually clear and that skies will become mostly sunny this afternoon as the temperature rises to a high in the mid-70s. There will be a south wind between 5 and 8 mph.

Tonight, there is a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms between 10 p.m. and midnight, and the temperature will dip to the low-50s. There will be a south wind 7 to 9 mph, later becoming north.

Tomorrow should be sunny, with the temperature in the low-70s. Nighttime will be clear, with a low temperature around 49 degrees, the NWS says.

Friday also will be sunny, with a high temperature in the low-70s. Skies should remain clear overnight, will a low temperature in the low-50s.

The outlook for Saturday, the weather service says, is for sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-70s.
