Sunny, hot and humid conditions set the stage for Independence Day and the holiday weekend, according to the National Weather Service, with a sizzling heat-and-humidity index that feels as though the thermometer hit 100 degrees.

Skies across southwestern Connecticut will be bright for July 4th celebrations, with the daytime high temperature rising to nearly 90 degrees and a southwest wind 5 to 14 mph.

Overnight, skies will be partly cloudy as the temperature dips to a low temperature about 70 degrees and a southwest wind 5 to 9 mph.

On Friday, after patchy fogs burns off in the morning, skies will be sunny, with a high temperature in the low-90s and a southwest wind 6 to 13 mph. Nighttime will be partly cloudy, with a low temperature in the low-70s.

Saturday brings a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon, the NWS says. Otherwise, skies will be mostly sunny with a high temperature in the low-90s. Nighttime will be mostly cloudy, with a low temperature about 70 degrees.

Sunday should be partly sunny, with a high temperature about 90 degrees. There is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms Sunday night, with a low temperature about 70 degrees.

The outlook for Monday, according to the weather service, is sunny and temperatures in the 80s.
