The Central Connecticut Coast YMCA recently presented a YMCA Youth Volunteer of the Year Award to Madi Sweedler of Westport.

Sweedler, a student at Greens Farms Academy, was recognized for her commitment to Alpha Community Services, a YMCA branch in Bridgeport that offers services for homeless men, women and children.

Sweedler started volunteering as a sophomore with the children at the Alpha YMCA and helped raise funds for the organization's annual campaign. Since then, she has helped with homework and brought gifts for program families. She is also a youth advisory board member at Alpha Community Services.
