Wakeman Town Farm is currently registering children for its three after-school clubs for kids of all ages.
Junior Farm Club for kindergartners through second graders gives children a chance to experience real farming and gardening activities including planting and harvesting along with farm animal care. Crafts, activities, games, story reading, and making tasty snacks from garden fresh veggies will be highlighted during this program. The club meets each Wednesday from 3:30 to 5 p.m. from Sept. 4 to Oct. 30. The cost is $275.
Junior Farm Club for grades three through five includes learning about sustainable farming first-hand through planning, planting and caring for a garden, feeding and caring for animals, and understanding the science behind raising a successful garden using both modern and traditional technologies. The program also includes games, crafts, and food preparation. The program for grades three to five meets each Wednesday from 3:30 to 5 p.m. from Sept. 4 to Oct. 30. The cost is $275
Middle School Farm Club for youth in sixth through eighth grades is designed to allow students to unplug from the digital world, reconnect with nature, and learn the ins and outs of organic farming and gardening through hands-on instruction. Students will participate in a variety of daily farm activities which include planning, planting and harvesting the garden along with taking care of the various farm animals. The middle school program meets each Tuesday from 3 to 5 p.m. from Sept. 3 to Oct. 29. The fee is $150.
