Westport’s Luke Villaluz, 11, won a gold medal in his event during the 2015 AAU Junior Olympics, which were in Hampton Roads, Virginia last Thursday. Villaluz, who will start at Bedford Middle School in the fall, took top in the All Sports Combine, which is a five-event contest of strength and speed.

The events contested were the standing long jump, bench press, power clean, medicine ball chest pass, and the 40 yard dash.

Villaluz took first of seven competitors in the power clean and the long jump, and placed second in the bench press and medicine ball.

Villaluz is a regular member of the Westport PAL track program and has competed in the Westport age group track meets for the past three summers.
