An expert on children's nutrition will speak March 16 at Earthplace on the effects of poor diet as children mature.

The discussion begins at 7:30 p.m. and is part of Earthplace's Green Earth Series at the 10 Woodside Lane center.

Cindy Sherlock, a nutritionist at Norwalk Hospital, will talk about what parents can do to help their children avoid the ill effects of poor diets, such as obesity and diabetes. Her topic is "Childhood Nutrition: A Healthy Diet and A Healthy Life."

In addition to her duties counseling outpatients at the hospital, Sherlock is active in a program to combat childhood obesity and teaches nutrition classes for children.

Admission is free, but Earthplace said seating is limited and reservations are required. They may be made by calling 203-227-7353.
