Westport Police Union Local 2080 and the Police Benevolent Association will again sponsor their annual Holiday Toy Drive, which provides toys for underprivileged children throughout Fairfield County.

In the past, the program has collected thousands of toys to be distributed to children who otherwise would have none.

This year, they have added as a beneficiary Newtown Kindness, an organization whose mission is "to promote kindness as a guiding principle of humanity," according to toy drive organizers.

Donations of new, unopened and unwrapped toys are requested.

Police officers will be collecting toys, as well as cash donations, in the parking lot of the Athletic Shoe Factory, at 1560 Post Road East, on Dec. 7, 8, 14 and 15 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Donations can also be dropped off at Police Department headquarters, 50 Jesup Road, at any time. Donations will be collected at the department until 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15.
