WESTPORT — Police said Ronald Bansak sent text messages to family members of a woman he allegedly assaulted in June, violating a protective order that prevented him from having contact with the victim or other people in her life.

The 50-year-old Westport resident allegedly threw the victim to the ground during an argument on the night of June 12, pushed her face into the ground and refused to let her up.

Bansak, of North Avenue, turned himself in on July 25 after police put out a warrant for his arrest. Police charged him with three counts of criminal violation of a protective order, a felony. Bansak was also charged with risk of injury to a child, disorderly conduct, unlawful restraint, interfering with a 911 call and second-degree assault following his June arrest. He posted $30,000 bail.
