The Westport Library is celebrating the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen's "Pride and Prejudice" with a Jane Austen Day party. The event, on Sunday, Sept. 29, from 2 to 4 p. m, includes a talk by Rachel Brownstein, professor of English at Brooklyn College and the CUNY Graduate Center, who will speak about her book "Why Jane Austen?" The program, at 2 p.m. in the library, 20 Jesup Road, also includes refreshments and the interactive game "Who Wants to be a Duchess?" The celebration is co-sponsored with the Jane Austen Society of North America, Connecticut Chapter.

In her book, Brownstein considers Austen as a heroine, moralist, satirist, romantic, woman, and author and the changing notions of these categories, and speaks on the author's growing popularity as Jane Austen clubs grow across the nation.
