A number of dogs are available for adoption through Westport Animal Shelter Advocates.

An application to adopt one of the dogs may be completed by visiting www.westportwasa.org and clicking on "Adopt." The adoption fee is $250.

All dogs are spayed/neutered and up-to-date with veterinarian care.

Dogs available for adoption include:

Blue Bell is a 2-year-old whippet-American Staffordshire terrier mix at Westport Animal Control. She is affectionate, housebroken, knows basic commands and can do tricks, according to WASA. She tested well with other dog-friendly dogs.

Sparkie is a 4-year-old American bulldog at Westport Animal Control, and is described as "Zen-like" with other dogs. WASA has pledged funds to continue his training with dog trainer Erich Grasso once adopted.

Bowser is a 2- to 3-year-old St. Bernard mix, who was formerly housed at Westport Animal Control, but has adopted by WASA and is being trained. He will need to be adopted by someone who will continue his training, according to WASA.

Jasper is a 9-month-old poodle mix living in the home of a WASA volunteer after being rescued from an animal control facility. The dog is described as "affectionate and smart," and has tested well with cats and other dogs.

Jessie is an 8-month-old boxer mix living in the home of a WASA volunteer after being rescued from an animal control facility. She is called "friendly and intelligent," and tested well with both other dogs and cats.
