The Westport-based creators of the children's TV series "Born to Explore with Richard Wiese" have won a media-publishing group's award for best series for kids in the 9 to 14 age group.
Litton Entertainment, the show's producer, was honored in New York earlier this month with a Cynopsis Kids Imagination Award in the Tweens 9-14 category. It was one of about three dozen awards handed out by Cynopsis Media, which produces electronic trade magazines for the media industry.
"Born to Explore" airs Saturday mornings on most ABC stations, and the production team now is wrapping up its second season, the producers said in a news release. The team works out of small quarters on Main Street above Bobby Q's Bodacious BBQ and Grill.
In each episode, host and executive producer Richard Wiese visits an unusual corner of the globe and the series has focused on people and their cultures in Australia, Chile, India, South Africa, the Arctic and elsewhere.
The series explores the connections between people and their environment. It also traverses rugged terrain for sightings of wildlife ranging from elephants and rhinos to polar bears and grizzlies.
Producers said the show also has been nominated for two Daytime Emmy Awards.
