Prospective members of the Westport Women's Club can learn more about the organization at an April 22 wine-and-cheese gathering.

The reception will take place at 7 p.m. in the group's clubhouse, 44 Imperial Ave.

The Westport Woman's Club is a nonprofit organization "dedicated to volunteerism and fundraising in support of educational, charitable, cultural and public health services in Westport and surrounding towns," the club said in a release announcing the gathering.

Founded in 1907, the club funds its projects through various fundraisers, including the Yankee Doodle Fair and the Curio Cottage Thrift Shop.

The WWC also sponsors a variety of social events and special-interest groups to appeal to a diverse group of women, which include luncheons, gardening, Zumba classes, books and card games. General membership meetings are held monthly with a catered lunch and a guest speaker.

Membership is open to women 18 years old and over in Westport and surrounding communities.
