Westport Woman's Club recognizes members, awards scholarships

The Westport Woman's Club recognized two of its members at the group's May Club Day luncheon, and awarded scholarships at the club's Scholarship Awards Ceremony a few days later. Both are annual events.

Wendy McKeon was given the club's Most Active Member Award. She was recognized for serving on the board of directors as membership chair for four years, co-chairing the club's food closet, serving on the Ruegg Grant Committee and the nominating committee, and is currently the head of the scholarship committee.

Clare Clark was named Westport Woman's Club Volunteer of the Year and received a Voluntary Action Center of Mid-Fairfield Award for her commitment to the club's fundraising and community service activities. She has served on the board of directors as membership chair and house chair, helped write the club's membership handbook, served on the Ruegg Committee and nominating committee and initiated the food and beverage court.The awards were presented at a luncheon May 20.

On May 23, the club's scholarship committee awarded a total of $27,500 in scholarships to seven Staples High School seniors and to an adult woman attending college.The scholarship awards are based on financial need and scholastic ability.
