Two new classes for children with special needs -- a yoga course and one in arts and crafts -- are being offered by the Westport Weston Family Y.

Both are geared to children ages 6 to 12.

The five-week yoga class begins Friday, March 7, and will be conducted from 4:15 to 5 p.m. each Friday. The class will be taught by Mary Beth Colleran, a special education teacher with the Bridgeport public schools who also is a certified yoga instructor, the Y said.

The cost $90 for Y members, $130 for non-members. The class will be limited to five students, and parents may take the course with their children for free, the Y said.

The six-week arts and crafts course begins Thursday, April 3, and will be conducted from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. each Thursday. The Y said plans are for participants to leave each class with a completed project to take home.

The fee is $80 for Y members and $120 for non-members.
