The Westport Center for Senior Activities has scheduled several upcoming events.

On Thursday, Dec. 5 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. there will be a class on the art of hand-stamping seasonal cards. Instructor is Joyce Bottone, the owner of Joy2Crafts in Westport. The cost is $5. All materials will be supplied.

On Thursday, Dec.5, the film "42" will be shown at 3:15 p.m.

The film tells the story of two men, Jackie Robinson and trailblazing Brooklyn Dodges GM Ranch Rickey, whose brave stand against prejudice forever changed the world by changing the game of baseball.

A light supper of sandwich wraps, chips and beverages will be offered at 5 p.m. The cost is $6.

On Saturday, Dec. 7, holistic health expert Jeanne Licurse will be featuring a meal of parsnip and butternut squash soup, nori salad with sesame dressing and onion and herb foccacia bread. The class will run from 10 a.m. to noon and is $6 per person. The class will be taught in the Center's culinary kitchen.

The calendar of events for classes beginning in January is now available at the center; at the Department of Human Services in Town Hall, 110 Myrtle Ave.; or online at the town's website www.westportct.gov/seniorcenter.

Registration begins on Monday, Dec. 9 for Westport residents and Monday, Dec. 16 for out-of-town residents.

Registration on both days will begin at 8:30 a.m. Any registration received after Dec.30 will be subject to a $10 late fee.
