The Westport Rotary Club is looking for three families to host a high school student from Poland during the 2011-12 academic year.

Ada Pospiszyl, a 17-year-old girl from Lublin, Poland, would live with one local family from late August to after Thanksgiving, another from late November to early March and a third from early March to the end of the school year.

Pospiszyl is the daughter of an English high school teacher, who also owns a reggae record company in Poland, and a freelance artist-fashion designer. Her English is excellent, and her main interests are film and theater. She also enjoys cooking, Indian traditional dance and reading.

The host families will provide room and board. Pospiszyl can take the bus, make her own lunch, do her own laundry and perform other tasks.

The Rotary Club, which hosts a foreign exchange student every year to attend Staples High School, will provide a monthly stipend. There are also overnight weekend activities with the rest of the Rotary exchange students at least once a month.

Westport Rotary also sponsors an exchange program for Staples students, whereby they live and go to school in another nation. Last year, two 2010 Staples graduates participated in the program: One in Venezuela and the other in Argentina. They both did it as a gap year, but in other years students have gone as sophomores or juniors. The deadline for applications for students to participate for 2012-13 is late November.
