Westport Public Library to host talk by Lincoln author

Westport Public Library will host a talk by author Daniel Stashower on his new book, "The Hour of Peril: The Secret Plot to Murder Lincoln Before the Civil War," on Tuesday, April 30, at 7:30 p.m. in the library's McManus Room, 20 Jesup Road.

In his book, Stashower discusses the "Baltimore Plot," a conspiracy to assassinate Lincoln just before his inauguration.

Stashower is a biographer and narrative historian. He is the winner of the Edgar, Agatha and Anthony awards, and the Raymond Chandler Fulbright Fellowship in Detective Fiction.

His work has appeared in the New York Times, the Washington Post, Smithsonian Magazine and National Geographic Traveler, as well as other publications.

Books will be available for purchase and signing at the free program.
