Westport Country Playhouse will hold a fundraising gala, "Playing Our Songs: Celebrating 80 Years of Musical Theater," this evening (Monday, Sept. 19) at the playhouse, 25 Powers Court.

The agenda will include pre-show cocktails at 6 p.m., performance at 7:30 p.m. and post-show dinner, parties and dancing at 8:45 p.m.

There will also be a silent auction of unique items and a "giving tree" in support of the playhouse's educational and artistic programs.

In addition, actress Mary Tyler Moore will present the Westport Country Playhouse's Distinguished Dedication and Service to the American Musical Theater Award to musical theater legend Bernadette Peters.

Several Broadway actors will take to the stage in "Playing Our Songs," a fully-orchestrated and choreographed retrospective of musicals produced at the playhouse since its founding in 1931.

Performers will include Tony Award winners Shuler Hensley and Karen Ziemba; Tony Award nominees Tituss Burgess, Melissa Errico and Andrew Rannells; and actors Dirk Lumbard, Max Von Essen, Neil McCaffrey and Jessica Patty.

The ensemble will include actors Lisa Gadja, Shannon Lewis, Matthew Loehr, Patrick McCollum, Kevin Munhall, Kat Nejat, Sarah O'Gleby and Anthony Wayne.

The production team will include director Joshua Rhodes, music director Mary-Mitchell Campbell and choreographers Rhodes and Lorin Latarro.

Also planning to attend the gala, schedule permitting, are thespians Lucie Arnaz, Joel Grey, Sheldon Harnick, Tom Jones, Jo Sullivan Loesser, Laurence Luckinbill, James Naughton, Christopher Plummer, Jane Powell, Stephen Schwartz and Joanne Woodward.

Attire to the event will le 1930s-inspired elegance/black tie optional.
