Westporter McCambley wins sixth Road Runners race

Westporter Luke McCambley won the sixth Road Runners series race last Saturday, a 5.85 mile run that began at Compo Beach. McCambley’s crossed the line in 33:31, ahead of 137 other runners.
The first woman to finish the race was Liz Herbert, of Darien, (10th overall) with the time of 37:54.
Second and third places in the men’s division in Saturday’s race were awarded to James Osborn, of Ridgefield, and Staples senior Ben Foster with respective times of 33:53 and 35:26. Second and third places in the women’s division were awarded to Paige Cloonan, of Bedford, New York, (21st overall) and Emily Lewson, of Ridgefield, (43rd overall) with the respective times of 40:56 and 44:04. Other Westport-Weston residents who finished in the top 10 were Sam Cohen, fifth in 36:10, and Paul Greenberg, seventh in 36:49.
The next race will be held on Saturday, August 15th at 8 a.m. with a 6.85 mile race starting at Compo Beach.
All interested persons are invited to participate in the series. Applications for and information about the Road Runners Program are available at the Recreation Offices at Longshore Club Park, at the start of each Saturday’s race or at the Program’s website located at westportroadrunners.org. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. at the wood Pavilion located next to the volleyball courts. The fee for the program is $30.00 for Westport residents and $60.00 for non-residents. In addition, participants have the option of paying a weekly fee of $5.00 (resident) or $10.00 (non-resident) per race fee instead of the program fee.
