Westport Public Library will hold a talk by Westport photographer Stacy Bass on her new book by "In the Garden" and the art of garden photography 2 p.m. Sunday, April 29, in the library's McManus Room, 20 Jesup Road.

The book highlights a variety of gardens with adjoining essays by journalist Suzanne Gannon about their history, inspiration and development. Photographs of the gardens, ranging from formal English-style designs to unstructured meadows, were taken by Bass.

Bass studied political science and photojournalism at Columbia University's Barnard College before attending law school at New York University and working in the motion picture and television industry, according to a library news release.

She returned to photography when her youngest child started kindergarten and has had her work in numerous national and regional publications, including athome, Garden Design, Westport Magazine, Greenwich Magazine, and House Beautiful. Her photographs have become part of numerous private, hotel and corporate collections, the release states.

The book, a 224-page hardcover collection of 18 gardens, will be available for purchase and signing.

The event is free and open to the public. For information, phone 203-291-4800 or visit westportlibrary.org.
