Westport Public Library will host a talk by author Helen Schulman on her new novel "This Beautiful Life" at noon Wednesday, Feb 8, in the library's McManus Room, 20 Jesup Road.

The book is about a provocative video that goes online and irretrievably destroys lives, according to a library news release. The book holds a mirror up to the lives of moneyed, elite private-school families in a provocative story of ethics and responsibilities in the ever-shifting digital age, the release states.

Schulman is the author of the novels "A Day at the Beach," "P.S.," "The Revisionist" and "Out of Time" as well as the short story collection "Not a Free Show." Her fiction and nonfiction has appeared in Vanity Fair, Time, Vogue, GQ, The Paris Review and The New York Times Book Review. She runs the fiction concentration of the master of fine arts program at The New School in New York City.

The event is free and open to the public.
