One-on-one workshops will be offered in August at the Westport Library for those seeking to improve their LinkedIn accounts.
Michael Shavel and Paul Fedor, of the state Department of Labor, will lead the 30-minute workshops on Aug. 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the library’s McManus Room.
The workshops are designed to help participants learn how to enhance their accounts in order to attract the attention of potential employers, according to publicity for the program.
The program will also teach participants how to update settings to ensure the account is being sent to reach the target audience. It will also teach proven strategies for getting more recommendations and endorsements and connecting with the right person in the target industry, the library said.
Fedor is a career development specialist for the state Department of Labor, providing job search and career guidance to a diverse population of clients. He created a LinkedIn networking series of workshops for the agency, including “Get Connected with LinkedIn,” “LinkedIn Networking Strategies” and “LinkedIn Lab” to assist clients in understanding how to use social media to find and network with employers.
Shavel has been employed by the Department of Labor since 1990. He works in the Bridgeport office, providing career counseling to a variety of job seekers, ranging from entry level to upper management. He holds a master’s degree in mental health counseling from Southern Connecticut State University.
Space for the program is limited and advance registration is required with the state Department of Labor. To register, email email@example.com.
