Westport Public Library will host a talk by Westport author Charlotte Rogan on her sixth novel, "The Lifeboat," at noon Tuesday, May 1, in the library's McManus Room, 20 Jesup Road.
Rogan wrote five novels before finally publishing "The Lifeboat," her debut novel, at age 57. The book is a story of moral dilemmas, focused on a complex woman on trial for murder after a Titanic-style disaster forces the people on a crowded lifeboat to make life-or-death choices.
Rogan, a Princeton graduate, started writing in her mid-30s, completing a series of unpublished novels, according to a library news release. While raising her triplets in Dallas, she received a call from a journalist working on a story about the challenges of the college application process for multiples. The article led to a friendship and the eventual publication of "The Lifeboat."
Books will be available for signing and purchase at the event.
